Communicating SubMeters

DreamWatts can be made to support any communicating submeter device. From KWh-only meters to full-featured electric submeters with current, demand, power factor, etc, DreamWatts can be easily configured to support it. A wide array of electric submeters are, or are soon to be, supported. Water and gas meters willbe supported in the near future.

DreamWatts submeters are monitored continually. Stored in our database is up to 2-years' data showing full submetered data, as available from the submetering device. All monitored data can be viewed online with a simple web interface. In addition, selected reports of the monitored data are available for the building owner at any time.

As shipped from PowerMand, all DreamWatts submeters are outfitted with a ComLynx device for wireless communications with a DreamWay Gateway.The ComLynx is responsible for communicating, via pulses, serial connection, or ModBus, with the submeter, and for sending the data over the web to the data center.

Installation for a qualified installer is simple, just wrap the Current Transformer (CT) around the power to the desired load. Up to three loads, or phases, can be monitored with most devices. Power for the submeter can be supplied by the load being monitored. The DreamWatts ComLynx will automatically find the ZigBee network, present its security credentials, and request commissioning. Once the user, with the click of a button, acknowledges the submeter (via the ComLynx) as a device intended for use on the indicated network, the DreamWatts ComLynx receives its commissioning and begins sending monitored data up to the data center. It's that simple!

Dent Instruments PowerScout3

DENT's PowerScout™ Series networked powermeters are submetering devices designed to provide timely and accurate consumption data necessary to gain the upper hand on electrical costs in today's escalating energy market. These meters can capture kWh/kW energy and demand data as well as virtually all relevant energy parameters for diagnostics and monitoring on three-phase or single-phase circuit installations. The PowerScout's™ flexibility, size, and ease-of-use make them ideal tools for gathering detailed consumption information in commercial, industrial, government and retail environments. Installing the PowerScout™ is simple thanks to color-coded voltage leads and clearly labeled CTs. DENT's patented PhaseChek™ circuitry includes a three LED indicator display that confirms proper CT-to-phase installation. The PowerScout™ automatically adjusts for CT orientation, greatly reducing set-up time and all but eliminating installation errors. The PowerScout™ uses direct connections to each phase of the voltage and various pre-wired CT options such as split-core current transformers or flexible Rogowski coils (for large loads or large cables and busbars) to monitor current on each phase.

The WattNode MODBUS is a kilowatt hour kWh energy and power meter that communicates on a EIA RS-485 network, measures 1, 2, or 3 phases with voltages from 120 to 600 volts alternating current VAC and 5 to 6,000 amps in delta (phase to phase) and wye (phase to neutral) configurations.
